“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”
Proverbs 31:10
This afternoon our family said farewell to our Aunt Ruby If ever there has been a woman who fulfilled the attributes of the Proverbs 31 woman it was Ruby Stinson.
I know many times when we lose a loved one we tend to focus on the positive things but I am telling you this woman was a Godly woman. she walked her faith every day.
She and my Uncle Bob loved each other well all the years they were together. I just know he is smiling from ear to ear tonight to her back at his side. She stood faithfully by his side as long as he lived. And like the verse in Proverbs “the heart of her husband doth safely trust in her” was so true.
Aunt Ruby was a naturally beautiful woman. She smiled all the time even after the disease that stole her away had begun to take its toll. Something about being around her always made me feel better.
In Proverbs 31:29 we are told “Her children rise up and call her blessed”. No truer words were ever spoken. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a selfless and complete love and they loved her back. I have watched in awe as they have cared for her always but especially these last 2 years. And what can I even say about these last few weeks. Lives have been put on hold to be sure she was tenderly cared for. Her children not only called her blessed they demonstrated that respect and love in very tangible ways. Their daddy would be so proud and I believe their Heavenly Father is proud as well.
The day after our Dawn left this earthly life I woke early to the sound of Aunt Ruby along with Aunt Peggy working in my kitchen. She worked tirelessly for two days taking care of things I couldn’t even think of at that time. She cared for us well. And she smiled.
She was very talented musically and could still play the keyboard after the memory of many other things had been stolen.
Ruby Stinson was a kind and gentle woman who was a role model to me in many ways. Her work ethic, her commitment to family, and her commitment to her Savior were all models worth following. My Aunt Ruby was that virtuous woman. We will miss her terribly but I am so thankful that tonight she is safe in the arms of Jesus (and probably Bobby Ray’s arms, too!)
Goodnight Aunt Ruby and tell Dawn hello for me.
